What Will Happen In Post-APM Era
  • A government-appointed regulator will set the norms for the free marketing regime.

  • Both public sector and private companies would market petrol, diesel and CNG from their respective outlets.

  • Prices of the end-product will be controlled by a consortium of all marketing companies on a month-to-month basis.

  • Marketing companies would be free to set up their outlets almost anywhere in the country.

  • Within three years, the government will slash subsidies on both LPG and kerosene sold through the public distribution system (PDS).

  • Fluctuations in the prices of international crude and gas will not affect the domestic consumer.

  • Should they desire, private players will have to be accommodated by state-owned oil and gas companies in their pipelines.

  • There are chances of higher prices of petroproducts in states far from the coast.
