Vikram Chandra

The NDTV journalist on his book, The Srinagar Conspiracy

Vikram Chandra
What next?
Right now I am hard at work at NDTV.

Why Kashmir?
It's a place which lends itself to a thriller, right now. And I do feel strongly about what the people there are suffering.

Do we get a glimpse of Vikram Chandra in the book?
There is a TV journalist and obviously he takes a lot from my experiences. In fact, I have taken great pains to say that he is not from NDTV.

How is he different?
I haven't gone into his character and personality.

Any other real-life characters in your book?
It is a story of what's happening in Kashmir. The characters are fictional but they interact with real people like those who set up the Harkat-ul-Ansar and the jklf.

So, it's not really fictional?
Part of the book is the story of Kashmir-and, the story is in Kashmir and then the thriller part.

So do you now belong to the St Stephen's School of literature?
Mine is a simple, popular thriller.

Any influences?
Frederick Forsyth and Wilbur Smith....
