Turning 30 gives the impression that a modern urban Indian woman’s only concerns are smoking, drinking, having sex, getting a haircut, worrying over sagging boobs, buying the Wonderbra and dancing with male strippers. She’ll never read a book till she has to write one (and she picks up Doris Lessing for inspiration). We aren’t being prudish or sarcastic here. We are carping about why a single-woman story has to blatantly follow the Sex And The City template right down to the facile, inane voiceover? Why can’t we have more original narratives like the TV series Mahi Way? Instead of evoking empathy, the film left me indifferent.
