To Hunt Some Big Game
When it comes to hardsell, there is no one to beat chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. The 32nd National Games was not just about athletes and records. Captivating laser shows, fireworks and several top entertainers enthralled the crowds that packed the spanking new G.M.C. Balayogi Stadium. Besides the usual clutch of ministers, politicians and sports officials, there was Big B leading an impressive cast of Bollywood and Telugu stars, specially brought in to lend glamour to the event.

An estimated Rs 250 crore was pumped into the games, which for Naidu is more than just a sporting extravaganza. He believes this will be a major milestone in his plan to transform Hyderabad into the most happening city in the country. His latest dream is that Hyderabad hosts the Olympics once.

However, once the games draw to a close, Andhra Pradesh will be left with the unenviable job of spending lakhs of rupees every month to maintain all the state-of-the-art sporting facilities specially acquired for the games. Officials,...
