  • Name ‘Ram Madhav’ is a portmanteau of the first and second RSS sarsangchalaks, Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar
  • Educated in political science at the University of Mysore; was RSS baudhik pramukh in Andhra in charge of the monthly journal Bharatiya Pragna
  • An ever-smiling visage and reasonable English speaking skills propelled his rise in the RSS as a youthful and energetic spokesperson on TV
  • Deputed from RSS to the BJP in July 2014, made party general secretary in August; RSS buffer among the big four: Modi, Rajnath, Jaitley and Sushma
  • As director of India Foundation, headed by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval’s son, networked with like-minded thinktanks in Israel, Russian republics, Sri Lanka
