After the hype, the hurdles. Almost two months after talks between the Centre and NSCN (Issac-Muivah faction), the Naga peace process is going nowhere. The NSCN(IM) leadership wants a political personality to represent the government. The outfit is unhappy with former home secretary K. Padmanabhaiah—who has so far been Delhi’s pointsman—for making some "unacceptable" remarks in an interview to Panchajanya. Says Mizoram’s CM and former militant leader Zoramthanga: "Only a person with political authority will be able to negotiate the nitty-gritty." The Centre wants Padmanabhaiah to continue, though.
