The Murder Of A Moderate
Abdul Majid Dar's assassination in Sopore last week, a result of intra-Hizbul rivalry, has dealt a severe blow to the nascent peace process in the Valley. Intelligence officials say Dar, a moderate, had been the prime target of pro-Pak Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin ever since he held out an olive branch to New Delhi in August 2000 by declaring a unilateral ceasefire.
