Cast in the mould of Frank Oz’s Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, David Dhawan’s Rascals is a painfully predictable tale about conmen trying to outdo each other. So there are tricks, ruses and disguises galore as Chetan Chauhan (Sanjay) and Bhagat Bhonsle (Ajay) play a game of one-upmanship with each other. Taking on this Chetan-Bhagat duo (who that joke is on should be obvious) is yet another crook Anthony (Arjun). And when this trio isn’t playing cat and mouse with each other, they indulge in many a group dancing session to inspired numbers like Shake it saiyyan.

What you eventually land up with is a flaccid, unfunny film with almost no lively situational humour, no crackling chemistry and...
