The unassuming surroundings make the interaction even more relaxed. The modest living room of the suburban Yari Road flat could be your own, right down to that photo of Shirdi Sai Baba on the wall. Her mom reminds her to call back a friend, the maid rushes to bring in the clothes hung out for drying as the rain gets sharper, the labrador Tin Tin and spitz Simba create a racket, the Man Friday fills in hot cups of tea and in her slender 5'2" frame, cotton skirt and spaghetti top, her face shorn of grease paint, the green-eyed Rani presides imperiously like the girl-next-door. The only sign of stardom would be the E-class Mercedes down in the parking lot which, too, has been given a homely touch by the huge photo of Sai Baba in the backseat.
