With a name like Obhishopto Nightie, you expect nothing short of a rip-roaring riot. The kind of laughter evoked by juxtaposing two of the unlikeliest bedfellows in the title—the shuddh Bengali term for ‘damned’ or ‘cursed’, and the som­ewhat frivolous moniker for a type of women’s nightwear—however, doesn’t really infect the rest of the film. Not that the concept or story lacks comic potential. A red, lacy, velvet maxi makes mysterious entries into the lives of women across Calcutta, turning them into temporary seductresses.
