Indian cricket is to the cricket world what baseball is to the US. It's the heartbeat from which we as cricket lovers get our pulse and don't let anyone tell you differently. I was fortunate enough to spend some time during my many seasons of cricket touring the grounds of India. There's no greater thrill than to play against India in front of its fans. But when retirement comes, one has to decide on what more contribution can be made to the game. Like the supporters, we have to accept the responsibility of being custodians of what's good for cricket. That being the case, it is naive to believe that one can stay totally neutral when the team that I once represented is playing, but one can and must try. Naturally, this might lead to readers believing that I am biased against India. I assure you this is far from the truth. In fact, to ensure we don't have two teams so far ahead of the pack that it becomes detrimental to the game, I hope that India beat South Africa.
