How much has been collected for Kargil martyrs?
Less than half a crore. We've lost 4,000 soldiers in 10 years of insurgency. We need at least Rs 200 to Rs 300 crore to rehabilitate families of the killed/wounded over the years.

How will this money be distributed?
No money for welfare is distributed as a fixed amount. We spend on housing for the widows, education of the children and vocational training for untrained women. Money is also mobilised for homes for the paraplegics and limbs for the wounded.

Is it true civilians are visiting jawans in hospitals with provisions, etc?
Not really. Leaders have paid visits but our hospitals are well-equipped. Things like blood donation camps that are being organised are not really required.

How many soldiers have been wounded and killed so far?
About 165 killed and 323 wounded till June 23, 1999.

Have there been offers of help other than monetary donations?
There have been two school scholarship offers and some job offers.
