The Slumdog choreographer's name was missed in the credits but Danny Boyle made up for it

Acknowledgement at the Oscars and a Filmfare award—how does it feel?

It makes up for all past omissions and hurt.

Tell us about it.

When I saw Slumdog at the premiere, I realised my name was missing. It was conveyed to Danny who said he’d make it up to me. He did so by graciously mentioning me at the Oscars.

Where did you learn to dance?

I had it in me right from the early ’70s when I saw John Travolta dance.

Tell us about Pappu Can’t Dance Saala which fetched you the Filmfare award?

I was on the Jhalak Dikhla Ja show with Shveta Salve who gave me the opportunity to display my dancing skills. My career changed after that. I worked for Saanwariya and Farah Khan recommended me for Jaane tu....

What was your brief for it?

To keep it young and peppy.

How did Slumdog come to you?

I had helped Amar Butala with Kudiyon ka Zamana. He liked my work and promised help. He introduced me to Danny Boyle who asked to see my work,...
