In Residence

Saket, New Delhi

In Residence
We moved to Press Enclave in Saket from Kashmere Gate in 1989. It was difficult to adjust to the new area initially. We were used to high ceilings and huge rooms and the flat seemed irksome. It felt like a pigeonhole. Also, we came from a place where everyone knew us, the neighbourhood was like one big family. That old world charm was lost in Saket. We know each other here but there are no close ties. In fact, in the entire locality, I just have about two or three good friends.

But there’s a lot of security. South Delhi may be particularly prone to crime but Press Enclave is very safe. In those days, there used to be just one cinema hall called Anupam. Now in its new avatar, the pvr complex itself houses as many as 30 restaurants, multinational food chains and pubs. In fact, the entire South Delhi tends to congregate here, it’s the most happening place to be in. The Saket Sports Complex must be the finest in Delhi. I have got used to the idea of living here. In fact, I am quite happy here and miss my home when I have to go out.
