It's almost unthinkable-a fast-medium bowler from the South of the Vindhyas wearing his aggression on his sleeve. Remember Javagal Srinath. India would have loved to see our most successful fast bowler since Kapil Dev display a dash of belligerence off and on. In fact, the last memory of a virulent display was probably when Venkatesh Prasad got into a battle with Aamir Sohail in the 1996 World Cup quarterfinal at Bangalore. In 2004, L. Balaji took a fistful of wickets in Pakistan but it was more his cheerful smile that left an impact. Not surprising then that S. Sreesanth's 'mean streak' got highlighted during India's maiden Test victory in Johannesburg last week. By now, it's become the standout image of the match, with TV channels replaying the moment over and over again-an unbridled expression of emotions after hitting fast bowler Andre Nel straight back over his head for a six. Excerpts from an exclusive interview with G. Rajaraman:
