Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala is helping former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal in the corruption cases slapped against his family by the Amarinder Singh government. When a Punjab Vigilance Bureau team armed with search warrants reached the Badals’ farmhouse in Balasar (Sirsa), Haryana, it found the SP of Sirsa already there with a posse of cops—apparently to ensure that the Punjab police didn’t plant any incriminating evidence. Of particular interest to the investigators are the investments made by Wimpy International chairman Kanwaljit Sidhu into Orbit Resorts in Gurgaon, Haryana. The resorts are owned by Badal’s son and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhbir Badal. The vigilance officials have in their possession two undertakings allegedly given by Sidhu that the Rs 9 crore invested by him in Orbit Resorts is on a "non-repatriable basis". It’s suspected the Badals re-invested much of their black money this way.
