No one can complain if I choose to stay out of the mud now and contemplate the beautiful game from the aisles—permanently benched. Yes, I no longer actively play football. I mean, let’s not forget that I am 82 years old…and sixty-six years on the trot must count for something! Ahnother minor but relevant fact here: I have suffered a stroke and, though I am recouping, football is a demanding mistress and does not like to be treated with disdain. A footballer must know that football comes second to none. You have to give it your full, undivided, diligent attention.
