Dirty Dancing
The monsoon is yet to hit Kerala, but the "rain dance controversy" has drenched the state’s Latin Catholic church, known for its rather puritan ways. The otherwise innocuous indulgence would have passed unnoticed, but for the television images of scantily-clad youngsters dancing the night away on a small island owned by the Kochi Diocese. But what shocked viewers the most was the sight of a priest—"sent to keep the party in check"—enjoying his drink.

Chief minister A.K. Antony has indicated that he doesn’t intend to make light of the issue. He said: "We’ll see that the state’s culture is not affected." Now that is a tough call.
