Is Apaharan your first non-glamorous role?
Not really. But the set-up is different—small town and more realistic.

How do you handle your sex siren image?
I'm comfortable with it.

Which is more difficult?
Often the glamorous roles—the dancing, playing the sex symbol is more difficult. Realism is easier. It's ridiculous to think you don't have to act in a glamorous role.

How did you address this role?
I'm a simple girl and playing this was easy.

You see yourself as a director's actress...
Totally. If the director is confused, I am lost.

What about your role in Apaharan?
I play a small-time girl, Neha, and it comes more easily because I've been brought up with simple attitudes and I think like the character.

Which have you enjoyed more? The small-town girl or the diva?
Both. It makes me happy that all kinds of roles are being offered to me.
