I’m looking forward to audience response and am keeping my fingers crossed. There’s serious work involved in it. It’s a big film.
After a successful career in Tamil films, is Bollywood a serious career move?
I used to tell myself that I’ll do one film in every language and then quit. This isn’t a planned move on my part. Aamir saw the film and called and complimented me. Then asked if I would be interested in doing Hindi films. I said yes. And Ghajini happened.
Tell us about the Hindi remake of Ghajini and your role.
I play Kalpana Chawla inspired by the astronaut. It’s a very fine role. I remember thinking that when I saw the Tamil script too. The Hindi one is more northernised.
Is it tough working with Aamir Khan, the perfectionist?
No, it’s great. He has his own take on the way he essays the role. It’s a learning experience.
Was dubbing in Hindi difficult?
No we are doing sync sound and that suits me fine...
