So many awards...
But the greatest one is from my listeners.

Do they matter to the artist in you?
Honestly, no. May be as a youngster I used to be excited. But now I am happy that I've got all of them on my own steam and not through any connections.

Six of these have come when you are on the wrong side of 60. What's the secret?
But it's the same old me. I suppose I am still young at heart.

Did the Dada Saheb Phalke award came a little too late in your career?
I would say so.

Do comparisons with Tina Turner offend you?
It's flattering. I was once called Madonna in a Sari. Someone else said that I'm Barbra Streisand, Tina Turner and Diana Ross all rolled into one.

Any regrets from Bollywood?
None. It's been a happy journey, at times sad, but never dull.

Are you open to the idea of scoring music in films?
I am wary about it. But after working with so many great people, I'm sure some of their talent has rubbed off on me.
