Even by his showman standards, Pakistan's express pacer Shoaib Akhtar is making a lot of news these days. And all of it off the pitch. But for once, he's probably wishing that his mug was not staring back at him every morning under another damning headline. It all started after his return midway through the Australian tour. And now speculation is rife, and on various counts, about his selection to the India-bound squad. There's talk of his being on the wrong side of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hierarchy, his less-than-cordial relationship with coach Bob Woolmer and skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq (not to mention the team at large) and last but not the least his fitness, woes that are likely to take another three-four weeks to sort out.

The board has put him in the dock, slapping a four-point chargesheet on him including an explanation for his visits to some of Sydney's hotspots. Shoaib has replied back in writing but it is not clear whether he'll be let off or not. If it's the latter, his case could go to the disciplinary committee for adequate retribution.
