  • Calendar Year

An almost-desi Pirelli calendar with a riot of the “virginal” white and a touch of red! Wanna sizzle up your desktop? Don’t miss out on these two this year. Like before, Sumeet Chopra’s 12 shots of some hot models wearing nothing more than their come-hither looks—from Shyla Lopez to Tora Khasghir—is too hot to handle. And if your tastes are more earthly, take a look at Taj Hotel’s centenary desktop—Riya Sen in an early 19th century bustle gown among others. Eye candy through the year, yeah.

  • Among the Stars

More than 2,300 flying hours, two Navy commendation medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal, and now soon going to be only the second woman of Indian origin to go to space after Kalpana Chawla. nasa has selected 37-year-old Lt Cdr Sunita Lyn Williams as a back-up crew for International Space Station Expedition-10. A graduate of the US Naval Academy, she’s been a helicopter pilot, a test pilot and a test pilot instructor. And when not training underwater, they say she loves to swim, bike, windsurf and go bow hunting. And the love of her life: an awesome black labrador retriever named Turbo, and her husband Michael Williams.

  • Preity Tough

Now that it’s almost official that Preity Zinta is not the “other” woman in Aamir Khan’s life, the rumour industry is still working non-stop—this time she was reportedly “spotted” in a not-so-comfortable position in a Mumbai pub with Sushmita Sen’s ex, Sanjay Narang. Unfazed, Preity’s working round-the-clock these days: for Honey Irani’s Armaan, Rakesh Roshan’s Koi Mil Gaya, Karan Johar’s Kal Ho Na Ho and Farhan Akhtar’s Lakshya. Now that’s what we call putting cold water on garam gossip.

  • Classical Touch

A living legend always busy innovating in Hindustani classical music. That’s Pt Jasraj for all these fifty years. And Calcuttans this week had a double treat—the launch of his four-volume album, Golden Voice, Golden Years, with daughter Durga, and stalwarts like Ustad Zakir Hussain among others performing live. A fitting tribute to a maestro.
