The theme of women’s empowerment for your I-Day special was fantastic (Matersfamilias, Aug 24). Irom Sharmila, who has also been featured in the article, is among the few in the world to be termed by Amnesty International as a “prisoner of conscience”. These women have broken many a barrier, and opened the door for many others.

Apropos the graphic Women Warriors, Sirimavo Bandarnaike’s lifespan is wrongly cited. It’s 1916-2000, not 1820-1910! Also Madame Bhikaiji Cama’s name has been misspelt, with the vital second ‘i’ omitted. Among Parsis, Bhikaji would be a man's name.
